How to spice up your kava during the holidays

This goes a little against strict kava tradition, but during the holidays, we are surrounded by delicious festive cocktails; hot toddies, eggnog, hot buttered rum to name just a few. 

But what about those who choose kava over alcohol? While we love kava earthy flavor, don’t we also deserve a little holiday cheer in our glass?  We think so!

So here are some tasty ideas for holiday cheer kava style.

Kava chocolate (hot or cold!)

4oz of kava nectar powder

1 ½ Tbs of unsweetened cocoa powder

1 Tbs brown sugar (or your favorite sweetener, I love maple syrup)

2 cups  water (hot or cold!)

2 Tbs of plant based milk (coconut, oat, almond) or as much as you want to add

 

Hot drink instructions:

Set the water to boil 

Put kava nectar, cocoa, sweetener, and milk into a mug

Mix mug ingredients together with a whisk or drink mixer

Add the hot water slowly while stirring ingredients together

Sip away!

Cold instructions:

Place ice into your favorite glass

Add kava nectar, cocoa, sweetener, milk, and water into a second glass to mix

Use a whisk or drink mixer to blend well

Pour over ice and enjoy!

Coconut cream, brown sugar and cinnamon

4oz kava nectar powder

1 can of coconut cream

1 Tbs brown sugar (or your favorite sweetener, I love maple syrup)

½ tsp cinnamon powder

Put coconut cream in a stove pan and heat until just about to boil.

Mix in kava powder, sweetener, and cinnamon. Mix well with a whisk or drink mixer

Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy!

Mint Chocolate hot kava

2 cups boiling water

4oz kava nectar powder

1 ½ Tbs of unsweetened cocoa powder

1 Tbs brown sugar (or your favorite sweetener, I love maple syrup)

2 Tbs of plant based milk (coconut, oat, almond) or as much as you want to add

1 Candy cane

Set the water to boil 

Put kava nectar, cocoa powder, sweetener, and milk into a mug

Mix mug ingredients together with a whisk or drink mixer

Add the hot water slowly while stirring ingredients together

Place candy cane on the side and stir.

Curl up and enjoy!

Kava colada (for those who want something a bit fruitier)

4 oz. kava nectar powder

1 cup pineapple juice

½ cup coconut milk

¼ c orange juice

½ cinnamon 

Orange slices (optional)

Ice cubes

Place ice into your favorite glass

Add kava nectar, pineapple juice, orange juice, coconut milk, into a second glass to mix

Use a whisk or drink mixer to blend well

Pour over ice and sprinkle with cinnamon

Add orange slices if using
