What does Kava Nectar actually feel like?

Kava Nectar has been going viral because it’s a non-alcoholic drink you can actually feel. Unlike other mocktails and N/A beverages, kava is made from the roots of a pepper from the Pacific islands. The plant has unique qualities that make it more than just an N/A drink.

So what can you expect when you try kava? Here are the feelings that kava is known for and why people keep coming back for more.

A tingly tongue

After the first sip of Kava Nectar you’ll probably feel a tingling, fuzzy sensation in your mouth and tongue. This sensation is especially obvious for first-time kava drinkers and may even lead to feelings of numbness. While this may be alarming and feel very strange- it’s a perfectly normal effect. And it’s only temporary, so it goes away after your last sip of kava.

The feelings come from kavalactone activity, which is the active ingredient in kava. Kava can have different effects on the nervous system, including this tingly and numbing sensation. Kava has even been used traditionally as a topical numbing agent for minor injuries in some island cultures.

Feeling calm, focused, and social

Kava Nectar is best known for creating feelings of relaxation, calm, and clarity. It does this through the kavalactones acting on the brain to affect certain chemical messengers called neurotransmitters. They specifically act on the GABA system, which slows down brain activity, giving you a feeling of calm and relaxation.

Kava’s effects are similar to alcohol but without the side effects of a hangover. This is because alcohol also acts on the GABA system. The difference is that alcohol also triggers excitatory neurotransmitters, which can affect your cognitive abilities.

Another benefit of calming feelings is feeling more social and connected to others. People have used kava to help overcome social anxiety, and recent studies have shown kava’s potential in treating anxiety and improving sleep. Some research even suggests it might be more effective than certain anti-anxiety medications.

How long does Kava Nectar last

In general, high-quality Kava Nectar can produce effects lasting between 1 and 6 hours. The pattern of how the effects progress follows the shape of a bell curve: starting off slowly, building to the peak before slowly starting to diminish. This pattern reflects how GABA levels initially increase in the brain and then return to normal as the body processes the kavalactones.

However, several factors impact how long kava’s effects last, such as your body size, metabolic rate, how much Kava Nectar you take, and the type you use.

The Kava Nectar takeaway

Like any new substance, it’s important to start small and give your body time to get used to Kava Nectar and understand how it affects your body and mind. Start by trying different forms of kava, such as traditional or instant. You can also experiment with making it with water, coconut milk, or coconut water.

The key to getting acquainted with using kava is being mindful about how you feel as you try different types and doses. The more you try and experience the more familiar you’ll get with kava and you’ll be able to find the best dose and combination for your experience.

* Please note that the majority of kava research pertains to kava extracts, which often undergo significant processing and may contain additional ingredients and fillers that can influence their efficacy. It is crucial to consider this distinction when reading about kava studies. To draw an analogy, enjoying natural kava as a beverage can be likened to experiencing a freshly brewed cappuccino, whereas kava extracts are akin in functionality to a caffeine pill. Both forms have their unique benefits and can cater to different preferences and needs. While it’s helpful to understand research on kava extracts, please view it critically and remember that natural kava offers a uniquely holistic experience.
